Communications headset manufacturer Plantronics (NYSE:PLT) has announced the launch of its CS60-USB wireless headset, specifically designed for VoIP softphone use.

The company said that the headset is the industry's first wireless headset for VoIP softphone users, and will give unprecedented mobility and wireless freedom. The CS60-USB allows roaming of up to 100 metres from PC softphones, with up to nine hours of talktime.

A spokesperson for Plantronics said that the new headset adds to the benefits of VoIP services by offering users mobility, and that it has worked with its OEM softphone partners to develop PerSonoCall software, which provides answer/end and ring detect capability for most major softphones.

The CS60-USB is priced at GBP199+VAT.
