Cisco voip training

It's a strong sign that implementing VOIP, or any other form of telephony, isn't getting any easier for the enterprise. Or maybe that work for all those unemployed Dot Com sysadmins lies just around the corner. In any case, Cisco Systems announced last week that it was adding the Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) to it's list of professional certifications.

Cisco says the new certification was created in response to a need for "knowledgeable network professionals who can install, configure, operate and support complex Internet Protocol (IP) telephony systems."

The CCVP overlaps with Cisco's existing IP Telephony Qualified Specialist certifications. Along with an active associate level CCNA certification (Cisco Certified Network Associate) the CCVP requires five additional exams. The list includes:

642-642 QOS--Quality of Service

642-432 CVOICE--Cisco Voice Over IP

642-425 IPTT--IP Telephony Troubleshooting

642-444 CIPT--Cisco IP Telephony

642-452 GW/GK--Gateway/Gatekeeper (available by July 2005)

Cisco promises that "Individuals who earn a CCVP certification can help create a telephony solution that is transparent, scalable and manageable."

The CCVP focuses on Cisco's CallManger systems, QoS (quality of service), gateways, gatewkeepers, IP phones and "voice applications and utilities on Cisco routers and Cisco Catalyst(R) switches."
